Small batch coffee artisans.

About Us

Our Story
Bethe & Matt have been roasting coffee for local specialty markets, family and friends since 2013. Based off of the growing local popularity of our roasts, we have decided to launch a small local micro-roastery to share select coffees with others in the Connecticut River/Shoreline area.

Bethe (a full time kindergarten teacher) and Matt (a guy who has broken the shackles of 15 years in corporate sales) are dedicated to sourcing coffee from small farmers who rely on micro-roasters like Deep River Roasters for a fair market price to maintain a proper living, and give back to our community.

Matt is the founder/creator of the Steam Train Half Marathon & Relay race in Essex, CT where 100% of the proceeds support CT non-profits. Feel free to look up info to participate in, or volunteer at the nation's only road race against a steam train click here !
What is a “Micro-Roaster”?

Micro roasted coffee is coffee that is roasted in small batches to exact specifications. The batches of coffee are generally less than 150 pounds, versus the hundreds of pound roasted in each batch in commercial factories.

We roast 6 pound specialty batches.

Less is truly more when it comes to the art & science of unlocking true potential from each select origin of bean. So don't worry if one of our local markets sells out of our coffee. We will restock the shelves each week to ensure our patrons are always getting coffee that was roasted within a week. Because wine is for aging, not coffee. We replenish shelves with enough coffee to ensure freshness.
